Job Posting: Junior System Engineer (Renewable Water Tech)

About ReGen

ReGen is transforming water security in arid regions with our solar-powered desalination technology. Our modular systems convert seawater into irrigation-ready freshwater using 100% renewable energy, enabling resilient agriculture in water-stressed communities. Join us to engineer solutions for a drought-free future.

Role Summary

Help us build the future of sustainable water! We’re a fast-growing startup developing innovative solar-powered desalination technology. We’re looking for a passionate and motivated recent graduate to join our engineering team. If you’re excited about applying your  skills to tackle real-world environmental challenges and thrive in a dynamic learning environment, this is the perfect role to launch your career!

Key Responsibilities

1. System Development:

  • Help develop embedded control systems for our solar desalination units (using microcontrollers, PLCs, power systems).
  • Participate in designing and testing PCB layouts for sensors, motor controllers, and communication modules.

2.Electronics Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Help diagnose and resolve software issues (power circuits, motor drives, communication) in both lab and field settings.
  • Contribute to root-cause analysis for electronic components.

3. Embedded Firmware Development:

  • Develop, test, and debug embedded C/C++ code for microcontrollers (ARM Cortex, ESP32 and Arduino) controlling desalination processes.
  • Assist in implementing control logic for efficiency (motor speed, valve timing) and safety features.

4. Sensor Data & Communication:

  • Write and maintain sensor driver code and data processing routines.
  • Implement communication protocols for module interaction and data telemetry.

5. Software Testing & Support:

  • Create Python scripts for automated hardware testing and data analysis.
  • Collaborate on root-cause analysis for system issues spanning hardware and software.
  •

6. System Optimization Support:

  • Assist in optimizing control logic for energy efficiency and water production.
  • Help implement safety features for reliable operation in various conditions.

Desired Skills (Nice to Have/Bonus Points!)

  • Any academic or project experience with solar energy systems or battery management.
  • Awareness of design principles like FMEA, DFM, or designing for rugged environments.
  • Familiarity with wireless communication technologies (LoRaWAN, 4G) for remote monitoring.

We value these qualities highly:

In our fast-paced startup, success comes from attitude as much as aptitude. We’re looking for someone who is naturally curious and a quick learner, eager to absorb new technologies and approaches. Being reliable and taking ownership of tasks is crucial as we build together. Most importantly, we need team members who are genuinely enthusiastic about learning – you’ll be diving into diverse challenges, and a willingness to grow, ask questions, and adapt is essential. If you’re excited by the chance to learn by doing and make a tangible impact from day one in a supportive but demanding environment, you’ll fit right in!

Required Qualifications

Education: Recent Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical Eng, Computer Eng, Mechatronics, or Robotics.

Hardware Skills:

1. Understanding of PCB design fundamentals & schematic reading (Altium/KiCad exposure a plus)

2. Familiarity with power electronics (DC/DC converters, motor drivers) and lab tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters)

Software Skills:

1. Experience with Python for scripting/testing

2. Understanding of microcontroller architecture (ARM, ESP32, Arduino, etc.)

Mindset: Excellent problem-solving, meticulous attention to detail, collaborative spirit, and comfort in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
